A blog where policy & law relating to technology, media & entertainment intersect.
I am General Counsel for Naxos Music Group, the world’s leading independent distributor of classical music. I also oversee the Business & Legal Affairs department for the North American branch of the company. I graduated from Belmont University College of Law and consistently work to expand my understanding of the intellectual property law field as it continues to collide with technological advances. The technology, entertainment and media industries have always been at the forefront of my interests.
I graduated from Samford University in 2010. I studied Journalism and Mass Communications, Film Production and Pre-law. I am a former freelance graphic designer, video editor, and web editor. I have been working with Adobe products since 1998 and can’t help but continue to enjoy diving into Photoshop for the occasional blog post image. During the summer of 2009, I was selected for the Interactive Marketing Internship with Provident-Integrity Music Group, a division of Sony Music in Nashville, TN. I worked for a year at the Apple Store and loved every minute of it.
I am married and currently live in Nashville, TN. During the summer of 2012, I was the intern for the online webcast This WEEK in LAW. I spent a semester with the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville and the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts. Also, I was a research assistant to Professor Loren Mulraine, the head of the Entertainment and Music Business department for the law school. The role of a research assistant was incredible and provided huge amounts of learning outside the classroom! The research related to social justice issues stemming from intellectual property rights. I also was a law clerk with a boutique entertainment litigation firm in downtown Nashville and an intern with the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office.
